Hey, wine lovers, it's Kris Levy here. And I just want to say welcome. Welcome to my first episode of my first podcast, Everyday Wine.
So a little bit about me, my journey in wine started about 10 years ago. And that was when I was living actually, in Colorado Springs, and my dad, he would come and visit me every month or so because he had business there. And when he would come into town, he takes employees out to dinner, and then we would go out to dinner, he would look at the wine menu from the waiter or the sommelier, whoever gave to him, and they would ask him, “would you like to like some help with picking the wines or whatever.” And he would almost always resoundingly say no, and just know exactly what to order off the menu.
And it was from there that watching him seeing how he ordered the wine every time we would go to a restaurant, or some sort of function that just plant that seed early on that I knew I had to do something with why. And then ever since then, my journey and wine is just slowly grown year after year. You know, wine is something that's, you know, fascinating. It's complex. It's not easy to understand, and it's not for everyone. I'll be the first to admit that and that's kind of why I like it.
So for me, what really tipped me over the edge was in 2017, I took my first solo trip to Italy, and I got to go to Tuscany and see the great vineyards there of sangiovese turned into chianti and Carmignano and Brunello di Montalcino. And that was when I really started to get this connection between wine, food, culture, society history, it just kind of all started to make sense and started to come together.
And that's really what this podcast is about is to kind of peeling back some of the layers of the onion of wine, and understanding some of the context that goes into to wine, whether it comes from the geography or the history, or the culture of the people that make the wine, all that plays together and all that affects the final product.
I mean, all of that's going to change the trajectory of whether you like a wine that you're served or poured, whether in the tasting room or at home or not. And so that's why I made this podcast is because I want to help you understand that.

Demystifying Wine
You know, I believe that wine doesn't have to be complicated. You don't need a wine expert to help you find the great wines that you and your friends can enjoy. It's more so about the power of opening a bottle, you know and seeing how something magical can happen every time that everyone in the room has the same glass.
And wine is just as much as about understanding the context and geography and the history like we talked about as it is about simply just bringing people together. And so on the show, every episode is going to be focused on wine. And every once a while we might veer off into the world of spirits and beer, as long as we have a good reason. But wine is going to be the primary focus.
So every week we'll interview sommeliers, winery owners, winemakers, celebrities who've gone off to start their own wine brands. We'll even interview restaurant owners and other people that work in the culinary world and talk about how they look at wine and how it influences their decisions for various menus and dishes.
Really, this show, it's about you. It's about your transformation. It's about you know, going from not knowing or understand what wine is and what goes into making wine to becoming a wine hero among your friends, your family, your clients, your guests and helping you unlock the secrets of wine or bottle up and everything inside every bottle.
And so I want this podcast to be a way for me to bring everyday conversations about wine to wine lovers, to wine consumers to other wine brands and kind of help remove the stuffiness I think sometimes gets perceived as being inside of the tasting room. Sometimes people can be turned off by wine because it seems snobbish or seem stuck up and you know this kind of this show this podcast is about making it more approachable and making them more an everyday thing because that's where the real magic happens.
I also want you to spot for us to teach people, you know, teach them how to take their events, whether it's a wedding, or a corporate party just or an everyday meal with friends or family and really take it to the next level with the power of wine.
So, I hope you are gonna enjoy the show. I hope you enjoy this podcast. And I'm really excited to have you along for this journey, because it's gonna be a fun one.
